John Avens, born 1755, married Lucinda ?. Lucinda was born around 1775 and died after Nov.1875. He died on July 17,1841 in th Big Creek Community of Monroe County, TN.

  1. Martha "Mattie" Avens - born around 1795/1802 in South Carolina, died after 1889. Md. Thomas Randolph, born around 1797, died between 1860/70
  2. Elizabeth Avens - born on Feb. 24, 1797, died on Jan. 12, 1877. Md. on Sept. 12, 1824 to Thomas Lee Divine, Jr., born on Feb. 24, 1795, died on June 16, 1859.
  3. Isham Avens - born around 1804
  4. William M. Avens - died before 1875.
  5. John Avens - born around 181?, died in 1875 in Monroe County, TN.

Second Generation

Elizabeth Avens, born on Feb. 24, 1797, married Thomas Lee Divine, Jr. on Sept. 12, 1824. He was the son of Thomas Lee, Sr. and Jemima Dill Divine and was born on Feb. 24, 1795 in South Carolina and died on June 16, 1859. She died on Jan. 12, 1877. Both are buried at Big Creek Cemetery, Ball Play, Monroe County, TN

Thomas worked as a miller.
Elizabeth joined the Baptist church in Oct. of 1866 a lived a member until her death.

  6. Mary Jane Divine - born July 3, 1833 in Monroe County, TN married Thomas Tallent
