This William Hunt is commonly confused with the Rev. William “Bucky”
Hunt. Information on this family came
from Ruby Lou & Roy Hranicky, of Orange Grove, Tx. and from a descendant of
this family: Richard A. Walker. This William Hunt was a
veteran of War of 1812, and extensive information on him is found in his
Pension papers and in Monroe Co., Tn, Court Records, by Reba Bayless Boyer,
Vol. 2, 1820-1870, Chancery Court Records, Case#651, May 28, 1877, titled
"Newton Hunt VS. Peter Johnson Et Al. and in Circuit Court Record #323,
Jan. 1870, "Grand Jury indictment of William & James Hunt of Monroe
Co. for murder by shooting, on 10 Nov. 1869, of Caswell Hicks; Matthew Hicks,

March 13, 1820 in North Carolina, and died September 05, 1895. He is buried in
Dale Cemetery, Citico, Monroe County, Tennessee. Notes for ATLAS OVERSTREET
CROWDER: Died at the age of 75. Known as "Old Herb
Doctor." Owner of Crowder Fields, which
he sold to the Babcock Lumber Co. in 1890. Atlas and Sarah were
divorced in Sept. 1860. He remarried
