WELCOME TO

MY WOODEN RADIOS

This is my favorite of all my radios. It's just plain beautiful to look at and sounds pretty darn nice too. It's a 1932 Silvertone lowboy.

This is a 1929 Temple model 8-80. This cabinet is a work of art. Just looking at it is all you need. But, it works too. It stands close to 5 feet tall. This model has a phono input as well. As far as I can tell, this radio had never been touch by a repairman before I got it. It did need new laminate on the top, but the rest needed very little work.

This is a Silvertone model 6050 from 1946. Seems to be fairly common.

This is a Silvertone model 7037 from 1941.

This is a Silvertone model 7039 from 1941. This one has wonderful sound. Besides having a tone control, it has base and treble boost controls.

This is a SIlvertone model 7134 from 1946. This cabinet is a little rough, but it plays well.

This is a Silvertone Model 6320 from 1938. This is a real beauty and very small.

This is a Silvertone model 6251 from 1939. This one is fully restored and beautiful. It tunes in very distant stations and sounds great.

This is a Silvertone model 6220-A. Not sure of the year. It's a farm battery radio. Other than the piece of broken veneer in front, the cabinet is in pretty nice shape.

This is a Silvertone model 7031-A from 1941. This piece is in the museum.

This is a Silvertone chassis number 101.571-1 from about 1940.

This is a 1942 Philco Transitone model PT3. The PT3 featured a cabinet finished entirely in Di-Noc or "photofinish" over wood. Di-Noc is still made today as wall and floor covering, mostly for commercial use. This radio is in nice overall condition and works well. It's for sale for $99.00. E-mail me for info if you're interested.

This is a Motorola model 54A16117 made in the 1940's is about all I know. This radio orginally had a photo finish cabinet, but it was in poor shape, so I had to sand it off and refinish it. It looks and plays really nice, but doesn't look original, unfortunately.

This one is a 1924 RCA Radiola model III-A. It doesn't have the tubes because they cost more than the radio. It'll have to get a tube conversion if it should ever play again. But the radio is in fantastic condition.

This Silvertone is a model R1261 made in 1940. I did refinish it, but it's very close to original. Still has original grill cloth and knobs.

Thie styling of this Silvertone model 1481 cathedral just caught my eye and I had to have it. It was made in 1933. It works and sounds quite well.

This Silvertone is a model 6120 made in 1939. I love the cabinet design of this set.

Here's a model 6130 Silvertone. It was made in 1939. It has AM and shortwave and has the green tuning eye.

This Silvertone is a model 1923 tombstone. I refinished this one to be close to original. This is a battery farm radio using three 45 volt batteries at 135 volts instead of the usual 90 volts. It also uses 3 volts on the tube heaters instead of 1 1/2. It's a beautiful radio.

This Silvertone model 1719 cathedral is definitely one of my favorite pieces. This one was made in 1933. Most of this cabinet staill has it's original finish. It really sounds great, probably because of it's huge speaker. It also plays really loud. This is an exceptional Silvertone.
