Club News!!
- Everyone of us...about twenty...had a good get together at the July meeting...good songs...good eats...good company. We were pleasantly surprised to hear Donny Shelton playing the hammered dulcimer that he had constructed. Donny did a fine job playing and the sound added a nice addition to the sound of the lap dulcimers...be sure to bring it along again. Rob Lowe added his own sounds with his five stringed bluegrass banjo...and again, it added a nice touch to the usual club sound. Any others out there with "alternate" instruments....bring them along.
- Lee Rowe played at Harpeth Presbyterian church services last month and his beautiful music was much appreciated ... thanks Lee.
- David Schnaufer, Lee Rowe, and Sarah Elisabeth will be in concert at the Dylan Park Pavilion in Woodbury, TN on Friday, August 27 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Cannon County 2004 Southern Heritage Music Series.
- On October 21 there will be an evening concert at the Paramount Theater in Bristol, TN, to honor Bob and Maude Mize. The beautiful theater organ there was a special love of Bob's and Maude's and they were important in its restoration and preservation. This is the perfect place to honor two people whose generous spirits touched so many lives. The concert will feature Lee Rowe, David Schnaufer, Sarah Elisabeth, Sandy Conatser, Maureen Sellers, Ken Bloom, Larry Conger, John Huron, Jim Miller, Betty Smith, Bill Taylor, Susan Trump....and more! Tickets go on sale September 1. For reservations, call 423-274-8920. East Tennessee in the fall and dulcimer music....sounds like something worth a road trip!!
- Sarah Elisabeth has been busy putting the sound of the mountain dulcimer on some popular recordings! If you listen to the title track of the Oak Ridge Boys newest CD, "The Journey," the baritone dulcimer which you hear ringing out will be Sarah's! She has also recorded with the Chigger Hill Boys and Terri on Daywind Records on their newest release. Sarah and the Initials (T.J. Larkin on guitar and vocals, and G.R. Davis on string bass and tuba) will give their debut concert in Crossville, TN, on November 19 at the Paramount Theater.
Carol Campbell, Hills of Kentucky Dulcimers, and Nancy Seifert won the duet
competition at Kentucky Music Weekend in Louisville, KY recently. The two songs they played were "Sugar Hill" and "Columbus Stockade Blues". Savannah Sooter, a very talented mountain dulcimer player from Eva, TN is also in the picture on stage. Savannah is a student of Larry Conger.
- Musical menu for August: Wanda will be bringing a couple of old favorite hymns for us to add to our repertroire.
- Believe it or not...Christmas is only four months away. Rob and Peni Rowe will be helping us get the dust off some Christmas songs and getting us ready for the season.
- Hostesses for August: Wanda "O'Grin" and Nancy Siefert
If you have information for the newsletter or performances or events to list, please let Sandy or Glen know.

If you are not going to be able to make the monthly club meetings, but will be able to participate in the playouts, please call Glen at 373-4270 and leave a message or email at wgm8218@aol.com and leave message. Thanks!
