The Professional Line (aka "Bio")
Tenor Eric White has gained a reputation in the East Tennessee area as a
fine lyric tenor, music educator, and church musician. He holds a Master of Music
in Sacred Music from the University of Tennessee,
where he was recipient of the Stanley Kogut and Voula Bitzas Memorial Opera Scholarships as well as the Roy Acuff Choral Scholarship. His opera experience includes roles in Albert Herring (Mayor Upfold),
Turn of the Screw (Prologue), Marriage of Figaro (Don Curzio), Coronation of Poppaea (Arnalta),
Magic Flute (Armored Man and First Slave), Salomé (Fourth Jew), and Amahl and the Night Visitors
(Kaspar). Mr. White maintains a busy concert schedule, including
engagements with the Knoxville Chamber Symphony, the Oak Ridge Symphony/Chorus, and churches throughout East Tennessee.
Performance credits include Bach’s Ein Feste Burg and Jesu, der du meine Seele cantatas and Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah and Chandos Anthems, Beethoven’s
Choral Fantasy and Mass in C, Rene Claussen’s
A New Beginning, Mozart’s Requiem
and Solemn Vespers of the Confessor, and Schubert masses in G, B-flat, and E-flat. As an avid early music proponent, he has toured the southeast with the Knoxville Early Music
Project (KEMP). He also has directed vocal and instrumental ensembles at Concord United Methodist, Friendsville
United Methodist, and Church Street United Methodist churches and has assisted music programs at area schools. He is currently
soloist at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Oak Ridge, TN.
